What is ADHD Coaching?

What is ADHD Coaching?
A space to understand what’s going on, work out what matters, and find ways forward that fit your life.
You might know exactly what you want help with. You might just know that something feels harder than it should. Either is a perfectly good place to start.
ADHD coaching is a conversation focused on your life as it is now and what you would like to change. Together, we make room to think, notice patterns, explore possibilities and choose practical next steps. There is no standard plan you have to follow, because your circumstances, strengths and challenges are your own.
What might we talk about?
People come to coaching for all sorts of reasons. You might want to:
-
Get started on something you keep putting off, even though it matters to you
-
Make sense of overwhelm, competing priorities or a mind that rarely seems to slow down
-
Find ways to plan and organise that you can actually live with
-
Prepare for a conversation, interview or change at work
-
Explore confidence, self-doubt or the impact of years of being misunderstood
-
Understand your strengths and what helps you thrive
We can also spend time working out what the real issue is. Sometimes the thing you first bring to a session turns out to be part of a bigger picture.

What happens in a session?
We start with what’s happening for you and what would make our time useful. I’ll listen, ask questions, reflect back what I’m hearing and help you look at things from different angles. Where it helps, we can turn those insights into a small, realistic action to try between sessions.
You can think out loud. You can change direction. You can arrive without having done the thing we discussed last time. That gives us useful information about what got in the way; it isn’t a failure.
Coaching is collaborative. I won’t hand you a rigid system and expect you to fit into it. We’ll explore what works for you, including when life is busy, unpredictable or simply a bit much.
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis?
No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to work with me. You may be diagnosed, waiting for an assessment, wondering whether ADHD explains some of your experiences, or simply finding that this kind of support speaks to you.
Your experiences deserve to be taken seriously wherever you are in that process.
Is coaching the same as therapy or an ADHD assessment?
No. Coaching does not diagnose ADHD, prescribe medication or replace mental health care. It is a space to explore your goals, choices and day-to-day challenges with support.
If something comes up that needs clinical or therapeutic help, we can acknowledge that honestly and talk about where you might seek the right support. You do not have to fit every part of your life neatly into one kind of conversation.
What if I’m not sure what I need?
That’s okay. You don’t need a polished explanation, a list of goals or a five-year plan. “I’m overwhelmed and I don’t know where to start” is enough to begin a conversation.
We can use a free 30-minute discovery call to talk about what has brought you here, what you hope might change and whether coaching with me feels like a good fit. There is no pressure to book further sessions.
